The Robie Pierce Award is presented to a program that is selected by the Para Sailing Committee as having made notable contributions to promote public access sailing for sailors with disabilities.
The late Robie Pierce, who suffered from multiple sclerosis, won several national and world disabled sailing regattas. Robie served as chair for the US Sailing Sailors with Special Needs Committee, now named the Para Sailing Committee. Dedicated to improving access to community-based sailing venues, Robie played a major role in helping to develop and promote sailing for sailors with disabilities.
