To be considered for nomination to World Sailing by the International Selection Committee of US Sailing for the 2026 Doublehanded Offshore World Championship, prospective applicants must submit this application to US Sailing.
- Prospective athletes must apply as a team. Teams shall be mixed two person crews of 1 Woman and 1 Man. Please refer to
the World Sailing Transgender Policy
- Co-Skippers must be current members of US Sailing and be registered as World Sailing Sailors.
- At least one crewmember must have a current World Sailing Offshore Personal Survival Course “World Sailing Approved” Or US Sailing Sanctioned International Offshore Safety at Sea with Hands-On Training Certificate (or equivalant)
- The two crewmembers shall be familiar with First Aid procedures, hypothermia, drowning, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and relevant communications systems
- At least one crew member shall have an appropriate radio operation license recognized by a national authority
- Each athlete must be national of the United States and present proof of nationality (passport) or have an approved exemption and provide proof of said exemption at the time of selection. For additional information regarding an athlete who is a national of two or more countries, has changed his or her nationality, or acquired a new nationality, refer to the Olympic Charter (Rule 41).
- Registration must be endorsed by the MNA (US Sailing)
The event will run from 23 September to 2 October 2025 on Sun Fast 30OD boats to be supplied by the OA with mixed crew and without on-water assistance. Please see the NOR for specific event details: NOR
Sailing is a sport that requies proficiency in a wide range of individual skills including physical, technical, and psychological elements. For a successful double-handed team, the skills of each athlete must combine to form an effective unit.
